2000 Recipient:  James C. Wootton '37 This award, presented since 1987, honors alumni who have distinguished themselves through outstanding contributions to one or more areas of society.

Eligibility requirements: A candidate must have earned a Lynchburg College degree or, in special cases, have attended the College at least two years and have been graduated from an accredited college or university.
 
Criteria for selection: Each candidate must have displayed outstanding contributions to one or more areas of society, including but not limited to, professional, academic, and personal achievements, as well as service to the College. Past recipients include Joy Fowler Flowers ’57, ’68 M.Ed., Daniel D. Gilbert ’59, Bernard D. Reams Jr. ’65, and William J. Bodine ’78, ’89 M.Ad.
