Word of mouth getting LynchburgAlumni.com rolling even before official launch

LynchburgAlumni.com officially launches later this summer, but already a small community of alumni have found it and requested early registration.  Those folks have all been approved, and will hopefully, be enthusiastic users of the community.

It merits a mention that many of them are Class of 2007!  New grads and their LC network is still strong.

In the next weeks, I hope the online community will reward all of you with more fresh news, perhaps some job and resume posts, Class Notes and updated photos and web postcards.

For those alumni who have not begun to explore the site, I encourage you to start today, find a few friends, invite them in, and remember, once the site goes live, the address will change from its current test site to its permanent URL, www.lynchburgalumni.com/ng.

First blog post from campus

Today has been full of meetings on campus.  That has allowed me to be on campus as nearly 200 members of the Class of 2011 visit for orientation, meet their future roommates, choose their first college classes, and otherwise take another major step toward freeing up a room in their parents' home so they can realize their dream of a home spa.

Despite the most oppressive humidity we have experienced this summer, everyone is milling about happily, and parents seem at peace with leaving their precious cargo with this smiling new family of strangers.  And with good reason.  Housing on campus has never been more comfortable, with townhomes, apartment-style living with wonderful kitchens and bathrooms, and homes that allow for a new level of independent living.  Campus is quite a bit greener than usual for this time of summer, and lots of maintenance project ...
