BCC Hires Small Business Center Director
Supply, NC - Tom Hemphill joins Brunswick Community College as the Small Business Center Director. He comes to BCC after years of professional and volunteer experience with Small Business Centers, including his last position at Roanoke-Chowan Community College, in Ahoskie, N.C., where he held the position of Director, Small Business and Industrial Training for two years. The Small Business Center provides counseling and training for business start ups and existing small enterprises. Mr. Hemphill distinguished himself at Roanoke-Chowan as one of the most active and effective counselors in the N.C. Small Business Center Network. He assisted in over one million dollars in new start ups in the poorest county in North Carolina, and his counseling hours ranked him 14th out of 58 Centers in North Carolina.

Mr. Hemphill has also been a business owner, running successful pack, ship, and print centers in Lynchburg, Virginia. With annual revenues of approximately $450,000 range, his stores received a number of awards including Franchisee of the Year and International Franchise Association Franchisee of the Year.

Mr. Hemphill holds a Master of Administration in Personnel Administration from Lynchburg College. He’s married with one daughter.
