Applications and nominations are invited for the position of College Chaplain and Director of Church Relations at Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, Virginia. Coeducational since its founding in 1903, Lynchburg College is affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), a liberal Protestant denomination.
Reporting to the President, the Chaplain is responsible for providing spiritual nurture and pastoral care to students and other members of the College community, coordinating campus religious life activities, and serving as program developer and coordinator of church relations. The Chaplain helps members of a diverse faith community to express their distinctive faith traditions in appropriate ways within the College community. The Chaplain serves as a member of the President’s Cabinet.
The qualified candidate must be an ordained minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Candidates should be knowledgeable about and able to function effectively with the various structures, agencies and personnel of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Successful experience is required in congregational ministry, in campus ministry, or other ministerial leadership roles with young adults; evidence of adequate preparation for a college chaplaincy is also required.
